Windshield Wiper Replacement

Windshield wiper replacement usually takes a few minutes. Streaking, chattering, or a blade that skips across the glass? Texas sun hardens wiper rubber long before the blade looks worn.

Signs You Need Windshield Wiper Replacement

Wiper rubber ages in heat and sunlight whether it rains or not, so most people find out in the first storm after a long dry spell.

  • Streaks left behind: the wiping edge has hardened, cracked or torn and no longer seals against the glass.
  • Chattering across the glass: stiff rubber, or an arm holding the blade at the wrong angle.
  • An unwiped band across your view: a bent frame or tired arm spring is not holding the blade flat.
  • Rubber cracked or peeling: sun damage you can see when you lift the blade off the glass.
  • A haze that will not clear: often a film of wax, tree sap or hard-water residue on the glass rather than a worn blade.

What We Do

A new blade on a dirty windshield or a weak arm still streaks, so the arm and the glass get checked too.

  • The right length for each side. Driver and passenger blades are often different lengths, and many rear wipers use their own fitting. We match what the manufacturer specifies for your car.
  • Check the arm. Spring tension and blade angle. A weak spring or a bent arm causes chatter that a new blade will not cure, and we say so rather than sell you a second set.
  • Clean the glass. The wiped area is cleaned so the new rubber starts on bare glass rather than a layer of road film and old wax.
  • Run them wet. Washer jets aimed and the blades run with fluid, so you see a clean sweep before you drive off.

How We Quote It

We inspect before quoting, because recommending parts from a description is how people end up paying for the wrong ones. Once we know what your vehicle needs, you get a written estimate covering parts and labor.

If we find something extra mid-job, we stop and call you with the measurement and the cost. Nothing gets done without your approval.

Every repair carries a 1, 2 or 3 year warranty, capped at 12,000, 24,000 or 36,000 miles respectively, whichever comes first. Ask us which one covers your repair; it is printed on the invoice either way.

Common Questions

How often should wiper blades be replaced?

Commonly every six months to a year. Here the rubber bakes on the windshield all summer, so a blade can be worn out before it has wiped much rain at all.

Are beam blades better than conventional ones?

Beam blades have no exposed frame and spread pressure more evenly along curved glass, and they tend to stay planted at highway speed. A good conventional blade of the correct length still works well on many cars.

Why do my new blades still streak?

Usually a film on the glass or a weak arm. Wax, sap and hard-water residue all stop rubber sealing properly. A thorough clean of the windshield fixes more streaking than a second set of blades.

Is it bad to run the wipers on dry glass?

Yes. It wears the rubber and drags grit across the windshield, which can leave fine scratches over time. Use the washer first, especially after a dusty or windy day.
